Web/Mobile App Critique

Before I read the chapter, I already had some apps in mind that would be great to use. I ultimately decided on WhatsApp. Not only is it an app, but it is also a web app now. I went with this application because it is an app many people use to communicate locally and internationally. Seeing an app that can help people communicate with their loved ones, close or far, is excellent. There are more than 2 billion users on WhatsApp!! The number of users will likely keep growing. This will be my experience and opinion as I have used the app for multiple years and have seen how they keep updating it.

WhatsApp is a popular messaging app that has been around for over a decade. Open the app, select chat, select who you want to message, then type and send the message. It has a simple and user-friendly interface that allows users to send text messages, voice messages, make voice and video calls, and share files. The app is straightforward to navigate. You can quickly delete multiple messages. You can add and remove people from one chat. There is also a business app called WhatsApp Business. This was made explicitly for small businesses and entrepreneurs. It is a great way to communicate with customers, share product information, or offer support.

The design is good as well and very user-friendly. The visual of the app is clear, and the text looks great! Messaging is easy; if needed, you can increase the text size. The app looks different depending on the operating system you are using. You can personalize the theme you want to use in WhatsApp to make it look cool or to fit your style. You can change the fonts and color scheme.

It is very functional the call quality is excellent. Your messages are all in one place, and file sharing is easy. When you send a picture through WhatsApp, the person you send it to can easily set up so images are automatically saved to the gallery. You can video chat with people as well, and the Quality is excellent, but it will depend on your network quality. With the apps end to end encryption and the ability to control who can view the user's information. It is nice to know you are safe and they take security seriously. The messages will stay confidential.

The app has been praised for its usability and accessibility. However, there are still some areas where WhatsApp can improve. Here are three recommendations for improvements:

  1. Enhanced Message Search: Improve the search functionality within the app to enable users to find specific messages, media, or information more effectively. Implement filters or advanced search options based on keywords, dates, or sender names to refine search results.
  2. Improved group management: WhatsApp could improve its group management features by allowing users to control better who can add them to groups and by making it easier to leave groups.
  3. Better privacy controls: WhatsApp could offer better privacy controls for users. For example, users could hide their online status or choose who can see their profile picture.
